Before forming an emotional bond, make sure you ask about the terms and compensation.
There is something I’ve noticed a lot of women getting caught up in, and that’s forming emotional attachments to men who simply see the interaction as getting to know you.
Here’s where the problem begins. A man can keep you in that emotional loop without ever intending to pursue anything romantic or physical. Why? Because he may be receiving emotional support, attention, companionship, and validation from you without having to invest anything beyond conversations.
And while you’re becoming emotionally attached, he may simply be enjoying the benefits of your availability.
So before you allow yourself to form an emotional bond, pay attention to the exchange. Is it mutually beneficial, or are you giving more emotionally than you’re receiving?
A man spending hours talking to you doesn’t necessarily mean he’s building something with you. Time spent is not the same as intention, and emotional access is not the same as commitment.
Besides, when you start a new job, you get compensated during your probationary period. So why are you providing full-time emotional support during the getting to know you stage without knowing the terms, benefits, or whether there’s even a permanent position available? 🤣
Remember, emotional investment has value, too. Make sure you’re not giving relationship level emotional support to someone who has no intention of building a relationship with you.
